Meet your Makers

Makers from this region create beautiful and unique gifts to share and our project here is to bring them to you online through the Cedar Root Marketplace. Many of these makers have also had the opportunity to build their business through the Cedar Root Business training program, a project of the Taala Fund.

Leroy’s Native Wood Art

Leroy is an artist creating unique wood cut and laser etched items from wall decor to lighting to drums and more. He loves to create new and interesting pieces, using his variety of technical skills. His interests go even beyond wood to creating digital art and memorabilia that includes historical family photos.

Artistic Board & Brush

Artistic Board & Brush was launched by Kathlene after many years of working with her customers through a larger crafting business. After finding success with her personal business connections, she decided to go independent and launched her new business – creating beautiful wood cut decor as well as teaching in person and online for the DIY crowd! She most loves connecting with her customers and creating new pieces of art in her home studio as well as in the classroom at Cynsational Memories shop in Aberdeen, Washington.

Dorothy’s Unique Gifts

Dorothy, known to the community as DJ, created a successful local retail shop selling a variety of handmade and personally designed goods. Through the COVID-19 pandemic, she was forced to close her physical shop and focus more on her online sales. She is not just a retailer, but a designer and creates custom designed products for events and groups too!

Jackson’s Seasons

This husband and wife team utilizes their variety of outdoor skills and talents to bring seasonal services and products to the region of Queets. From hunting and fishing guide work to local firewood to creating delicious jams, pickles and candles with Jackson’s Jars!

Sovereign Teas

Sovereign NDN Tea is harvested by hand on the Quinault Indian Nation on the Washington Coast. Started by Jean Ramos, this product has been well received and successful in the region.

Queets 101 Dog Wash

This new business was developed through the Cedar Root Business Program by Sue Kalama. Her plan to create a mobile dog wash is in the works, and in the mean time you can take her dog care kits with you on your travels to keep your pet (and your car) clean!

Coastal Courier

Coastal Courier is a new business launched through the Cedar Root Business Program by Liz Prior. The area of Queets is a fairly remote community on the coast of Washington, which can often create difficulty with shipping for many small business owners. The Coastal Courier is providing a much needed service, picking up and delivering packages locally or to the post office. This business is an integral part to the sustainability and growth of the Cedar Root Marketplace as well as the local businesses they serve.
